Building the Education Revolution

In 2009, extraordinary grants via the federal government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER) program were made available to Catholic schools.

All schools received grants under the National School Pride Program (AU$ 23.9 million). Primary schools and secondary schools with Year 7 students gained grants under the Primary Schools for the 21st Century Program (AU$ 285.2 million) and nine secondary schools received grants under the Science and Language Centre component of the initiative (AU$ 15.4 million).

The BER grants provided Catholic schools with a unique and fantastic opportunity to obtain additional new facilities and/or refurbish existing buildings.

Recognition Requirements to Commonwealth Funding Assistance

The Australian Government provides significant funding towards capital expenditure for Catholic schools in Western Australia. Recognition requirements must be met as part of the conditions of funding to officially acknowledge the government’s contribution.

This is done in the form of an official school opening ceremony.
