Kearnan College – TREE Cluster of Schools in the Manjimup region

This project began in 2013, with Kearnan College middle school staff intentionally engaging in collaborative pedagogies and teaching and learning strategies.

The initial success of the project saw it expand to involve three more schools in the region, and brought together teachers from Year 5 through to Year 8 to facilitate consistency in curriculum delivery and comparability.

The Tree Cluster of Schools have kept working together, and current focus areas include curriculum mapping in English and Mathematics, as well as work on problem solving. The collaborative approach has included common assessment tasks and resource sharing.

A number of positive outcomes have stemmed from the project, including bridging the gap between primary and secondary teachers, and building strong relationships between the four schools involved.
