In Search of Safety

In Search of Safety is a community education program developed by the Red Cross Migration Support Program in WA to help dispel the myths and misunderstandings surrounding asylum seekers in Australia.

The program presents information that is neutral and unbiased so participants can make their own conclusions about asylum seekers and aims to create a more welcoming Australia and a more inclusive community for all.

In Search of Safety offers primary schools an interactive educational experience for pupils in years 6 and 7.

For pupils in years 7-12, In Search of Safety offers the Pathways to Protection secondary school education program.

In addition to school programs, In Search of Safety is available to groups in the community wanting to learn more about the real situation faced by people seeking asylum in Australia.

The feedback from participating students and teachers has been fantastic and indicates improved understanding and sympathy towards the plight of asylum seekers and refugees in Australia.
