Albany Combined Schools Anzac Parade and Service

On the eve of Anzac Day 2015, 150 students and staff from St Joseph's in Albany joined students and staff from 34 other Great Southern Schools to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.

Over 2,000 students and staff marched in total and the service was entirely student based. A special guest on the day was Ret Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston and his wife Dame Elizabeth.

Sir Angus was very impressed by the way all students participated and conducted themselves and stressed the importance of keeping the spirit of Anzac alive for future generations.

Albany is widely regarded as the home of the Anzacs with the recent opening of the National Anzac Centre and the famous Dawn Service overlooking King George Sound where the Anzac's assembled before their departure in 1914.
