St. Emilie’s granted funds for National Science Week

St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School in Canning recently celebrated a week long science extravaganza of activities and learning thanks to a National Science Week grant.

The National Science Week theme for 2014 “Science Feeding the World: Food for our Future” provided an excellent opportunity to integrate Science with Health at St. Emilie’s. Through a variety of relevant and challenging science investigations, students learned where food products come from and how healthy eating habits and food choices contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participated in the week long celebration and extra health and science activities which enhanced the profile of the Science Learning Area. The Science Week festivities concluded with a Science Expo held in the school hall that showcased everything the students had learnt during the week and that also celebrated the science in their Guided Inquiry Unit throughout the term.
