Online safety group Cybersmart have released a new online safety program ‘Cybersmart Access’, with the objective of addressing the online safety and security needs of children and young people with disabilities. The website can be accessed through the Cybersmart website www.cybersmart.gov.au.
The national program consists of four online interactive activities that pass on key messages concerning cyber safety and cyber security. Themes of safe social networking, protection of personal information, responding to cyber bullying and unwanted contact, digital reputation and responsible online and mobile phone use are covered.
The programs are free to use for all primary and secondary schools, and text alternatives can be provided to students unable to access the internet.
Cybersmart is managed and maintained by the Australian Communications and Media Authority. The aims of the organisation are to inform, educate, and empower children and young people when it comes to online safety.
