Choice

You choose the school where you want to work. As each school and office employs its own staff, you chose the school/office that appeals to you and best suits your skills and interests at the time. Current vacancies are listed on this site as well as in the West Australian and of course on the relevant school’s website. Applications are made directly to the school/office by the closing date specified.

System-Wide Conditions

As a new staff member, you will have a structured introduction to your school and the Catholic Education system in Western Australia. Your salary and conditions of employment are negotiated through Catholic Education WA. This provides the same remuneration for all staff in Catholic schools throughout the State. Your conditions are portable between Catholic schools in the state, provided any break in your service does not void the portability arrangements.

Arrangements exist between Catholic schools in Australia to transfer accumulated long service leave entitlements if you chose to move interstate to work in another Catholic school (conditions apply).

Induction, Accreditation and Professional Development

Professional Learning opportunities are well structured to meet the development needs of new graduates as well as experienced staff. Comprehensive learning opportunities and an accreditation program are made available centrally at Catholic Education WA in Leederville and also at the school level. Access to Leadership Development programs is through fair and equitable processes.

Employee Assistance Program

In honouring its commitment to the wellbeing of all staff in Catholic schools throughout the state, the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) resolved to provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for all staff in Catholic schools in Western Australia. The EAP also extends to immediate family members of staff.

The vast majority of Catholic schools will be working with Centrecare Corporate whose program, ACCESS, is a leading provider and innovator in the field of employee assistance. The program offers a range of specialist, confidential and professional support services that can include counselling, mediation, coaching and consultancy.

The program maintains the highest level of confidentiality for clients. Those utilising the program can do so in the knowledge that no identifying information will be released to their Principal, Catholic Education WA or the CECWA.
