Scholarships

Within Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA), a number of scholarships are offered to encourage staff to engage in further study.

Professional Development Scholarships for Teachers

Scholarship Funding for the 2017 Professional Development Scholarships is available to teaching staff who are:

·     Completing Accreditation requirements or

·     Upgrading their qualifications from 3 year to 4 year trained or

·     Undertaking Early Childhood studies or

·     Working at the margins e.g. Aboriginal Education, CARE schools, Special Education

·     Rural & Remote schools.

Professional Development Scholarships for Non-Teachers & CEWA Staff

Scholarship funding for the 2017 Professional Development Scholarships is available to non-teaching staff who wish to undertake a course of study at a university or TAFE College.  The scholarships are allocated based on the relevance of the proposed study to CEWA and to the applicant’s current position.


Successful applicants will receive partial reimbursement for costs up to $1 700 per unit for fifth year level studies and up to $1 020 for other studies.  One unit per semester per person will be funded with a maximum of two units per calendar year.

Graduate Certificate in Catholic Leadership Scholarship

In 2017 The University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) is offering a new graduate certificate course (four units) which will enable students to critically apply their knowledge, understanding and practice of the Catholic faith tradition to the leadership and management of service-oriented Catholic organisations. The course will be delivered through UNDA's School of Business and will be available as a part-time course. All four units of study will satisfy requirements for the Accreditation for Leadership of a catholic School Community. Students will graduate with the ability to apply contemporary leadership and management concepts to facilitate effective governance, performance, change management and integration of faith-based values within service-oriented Catholic organisations.

The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) will offer up to ten scholarships in 2017. Applicants must already have Accreditation to Teach. Successful applicants will recieve a partial reimbursement of $1 700 per unit for a maximum of two units per calendar year.

Doctoral Scholarship

This is a scholarship for up to two members of staff from CEWA who are nearing completion of a doctoral degree. The scholarship will provide recipients with up to one term’s funded leave to assist the writing and submission of their thesis. The maximum value of each scholarship is $30 000 to be provided to the employer to cover salary costs.

Master Scholarship

 

Based on LEAD (Learning, Engagement, Accountability, Discipleship), this is a scholarship for up to four members of staff from CEWA for study of qualifications at Masters level.  Successful applicants will receive a partial reimbursement for costs up to $1 700 per unit.  One unit per semester per person will be funded with a maximum of two units per calendar year.
