The Catholic education system actively encourages and supports Aboriginal people to undertake training and higher education to further the goals of the Catholic Education system.
CEWA offers traineeship opportunities for various career paths in the education sector. Traineeships can be of one or two year duration where the trainee gains on the job experience whilst working towards gaining accreditation in their chosen field.
CEWA offers cadetship opportunities for individuals who study full-time toward a degree and offers cadetships for a range of interesting career opportunities in the education sector.
The cadetships offer a study allowance that is paid to each cadet during the period of full time study. Support is also provided through mentoring. Paid work experience of up to twelve weeks for every year of the program is also provided.
The Aboriginal Teaching Assistant Study Scholarship is offered to Aboriginal Teaching Assistants (ATAs) who wish to become teachers.
Financial assistance is available to ATAs who want to undertake an approved course of study on a pathway to teaching. Partial scholarships are available for those wanting to study part time or study approved non degree courses.
Full scholarships are available for ATAs who are accepted in to a Bachelor of Education or similar approved course.
